Preface

This guide describes how to install each of the HP NAStm Packages Version 8.3B for OpenVMStm VAXtmSystems running OpenVMS VAX Version 7.3 and for OpenVMS Alpha Systems running OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.3-2

Intended Audience

This product is customer-installable by users already familiar with the VMSINSTAL procedure and POLYCENTER[TM] Software Installation Utility (PCSI).

HP offers comprehensive services, including on-site software installation, for customers who need additional services. OpenVMS recommends that you get installation services if you are unfamiliar with the VMSINSTAL procedure or PCSI Utility.

OpenVMS recommends that you print and read the component installation guides before installing the NAS packages. You may print this electronic documentation as reasonably necessary to exercise your license to use the NAS packages. See Section 1.3.1 for the location of the component installation guides.

Conventions

The following conventions are used in this guide:
NAS Means Network Application Support.
UPPERCASE TEXT Uppercase letters indicate the name of a command, a file, a parameter, a procedure, or utility.
monospace font This typeface indicates a command, option, or path name, and is also used in examples of program code.
bold Bold indicates user input in code examples.
$ The dollar sign is used to indicate the DCL prompt. This prompt may be different on your system.
50 000 000 Spaces are used to punctuate whole decimal numbers containing five or more digits.
.
.
.
Vertical ellipsis in an example means information not directly related to the example has been omitted.
italics Italics with initial capitals indicates the title of a book. For example, the The Middleware Source Book.

Italics for a lowercase text string indicates emphasis of a term. For example, the first entry.
