3.2 Using the VMSINSTAL Utility

Use the VMSINSTAL utility to install most of the Enterprise Integration Packages components. A few products, identified in Table 3-2, require the POLYCENTER Software Installation Utility described in Section 3.3.

To use VMSINSTAL:

  1. Set your default directory to SYS$UPDATE.
  2. Invoke VMSINSTAL using a command in the following format:


    $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL save-set-name 
     device-name: OPTION N
    

    In this format:

    If you do not supply these two parameters, VMSINSTAL prompts you for the product and device names.
    If you want to be prompted for the product and device names and to display or print the release notes, use the following format:


    $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL "" "" OPTIONS N
    

3.2.1 Error Detection and Follow Up

If VMSINSTAL detects any problems during the installation, it notifies you and asks if you want to continue the installation. If you have any questions about whether you should continue, see the appropriate Enterprise Integration Packages component installation guide. To stop the installation process and correct the situation, enter N and press Return. Then correct the problem and restart the installation. Some of the problems may include:
