3.3.7 The NTService Section (on Windows NT Systems)

Use this section to specify the NT Service that the Mail Monitor will scan.

3.3.7.1 General Rules for the NT Service

The scanning module for any scanning module that runs on an NT server does these general checks:

• The service is defined

• The state is one of the following:

  • Running

  • Stopped

  • Stop Pending

  • Paused

  • Pause Pending

  • Unknown

  These two other states have a severity value (as defined in the note at the beginning of Section 3.3) of one less than the severity value for the named NT service:

  • Start pending

  • Continue pending

3.3.7.2 Values for NT Service Checks

• Full_Name=description

  which is a descriptive name of the NT Service being used by this scanning module.

• Severity=error_level

  The severity value for a problem, as defined in the note at the beginning of Section 3.3.
