3.3.8 The Performance Section (on Windows NT Systems)

Use this section to specify the Performance counters that the Mail Monitor will scan.

3.3.8.1 General Rules for Performance Checks

The scanning module for any scanning module that runs on an NT server does these general checks:

• For all checks, Mail Monitor produces an NT Performance record

• For counters, Mail Monitor produces an NT Performance record and a Perf Counter record with speed and acceleration of the changes to the counter values

• If an object does not exist or is not found, Mail Monitor produces a Monitor record.

3.3.8.2 Values for Performance Checks

• Full_Name=description

  which is a descriptive name of the NT Performance of this scanning module.

• Object_Name=description

  which is a descriptive name of the object that represents the NT Performance of this scanning module.

• Severity=error_level

  The severity value for a problem, as defined in the note at the beginning of Section 3.3.

• Instance.instance type=yes|no

  which specifies an instance type and value for the NT Performance.

• Counter.counter type=yes|no

  which specifies a counter type and value for the NT Performance.

• Value.value type[.subtype]=value

  which specifies a value type/subtype and value for the NT Performance.
