3.3.12 The Service Section (on DIGITAL UNIX Systems)

Use this section to specify the name of the transport services that the Mail Monitor will scan.

3.3.12.1 General Rules for Service Checks

• If a service is defined, nothing happens.

• If a service is not defined, Mail Monitor produces a Monitor record with status information.

3.3.12.2 Values for Service Checks

The section refers to the /etc/services file which lists the services that use TCP/IP. It has the following format:

You can also specify a severity value, as defined in the note at the beginning of Section 3.3.
