Relationship of DCE to Network and System Services
As shown in the figure entitled Layering of DCE and Related Software, DCE is layered on top of local operating system and networking software. DCE makes certain assumptions about the services provided by the underlying network and operating systems. DCE's requirements for these services are described in the following subsections.
