The initialization file contains file sections corresponding to
these sections of this chapter, as appropriate to the scanning
modules configured:
- Section 3.3.1, The Process Section
- Section 3.3.2, The File Section
- Section 3.3.3, The Device
Section
- Section 3.3.4, The EventLog
Section
- Section 3.3.5, The NCL_Entity
Section (on DIGITAL UNIX and OpenVMS Systems)
- Section 3.3.6, The File_Count Section
(on DIGITAL UNIX and OpenVMS Systems)
- Section 3.3.7, The NTService
Section (on Windows NT Systems)
- Section 3.3.8, The Performance
Section (on Windows NT Systems)
- Section 3.3.9, The Logical Section
(on OpenVMS Systems)
- Section 3.3.10, The Image Section
(on OpenVMS Systems)
- Section 3.3.11, The Env Section (on
Digital UNIX Systems)
- Section 3.3.12, The Service Section
(on DIGITAL UNIX Systems)
The default values in the initialization files are designed
to collect useful information without problems in a normal
configuration, with no manual intervention after you install a
scanning module. The installation procedure for scanning modules
also updates the server's configuration file with any necessary new
[Entity]
section or sections. If you want to change the
default values, or add scanning modules other than the ones supplied
with the Mail Monitor kit, see the
section of Section 3.4 that applies to the
operating system that your server uses.
After giving instructions for defining commands for the Control
Module, the rest of this chapter describes:
- Generic configuration in Section 3.3
(configuration tasks for checks that all scanning modules can
make)
- Module-specific configuration in Section 3.4
(configuration tasks for checks that apply only to specific
modules)
